Bret Baier is an American journalist and host. He serves as the host of Special Report with Bret Baier on Fox News Channel, in addition to his role as the network’s chief political correspondent.

 

Besides being the chief political correspondent for Fox. Previously, Bret worked as the network’s Chief White House Correspondent and Pentagon correspondent.

Paul, whose full name is Paul Francis Baier was born on June 29, 2007. Paul Francis received a clean bill of health in the first hours after his birth. Unfortunately, the next day, a nurse noticed Paul was turning pale. Sadly, an echocardiogram soon disclosed that Paul had five serious congenital heart defects. Thus, failure to emergency surgery within days he would die. Consequently, Dr. Richard Jonas performed an eight-hour open-heart surgery on Paul when he was just 12 days old.

A homograft was inserted to fix the condition. A donated baby aorta connects Paul’s pulmonary artery with the right ventricle of his heart. However, the connector does not grow with him. Thus at 10 months, baby Paul went for his second open heart surgery to have a bigger version of the connector substituted. Paul has had multiple angioplasties to open his arteries and clear the homograft.

Dr Jonas conducted a third successful open heart surgery in September 2013. Paul will have to have at least one more open heart surgery and other procedures as continues to grow. Currently, Paul is very healthy and active. Paul appreciates spending time with his friends and treasures sports too.

In 1998, Bret submitted an audition tape to Fox News, which led to his hiring as the network’s Atlanta bureau chief. When the September 11, 2001 attacks occurred, he relocated from Georgia to Arlington, Virginia, to cover the Pentagon attack. Notably, after this move, he did not return to the Atlanta bureau.

Shortly afterward, Bret was appointed as Fox News’s Pentagon correspondent, a role he held for five years. During this time, he made 11 trips to Afghanistan and 13 to Iraq. In 2007, he earned the position of White House correspondent for Fox News, covering the administration of President George W. Bush.

In the fall of 2007, Bret began filling in for Brit Hume, who was the Friday anchor of Special Report. When Brit Hume hosted his final episode on December 23, 2008, it was announced that Bret would take over as the permanent anchor. He officially started in this role with his first full show airing on January 5, 2009.
